Meet Boston Photographer, Laura Pineda of Alternate Angles

Welcome! I am Laura Pineda, the super smiley face behind the Boston-area photography company Alternate Angles. I specialize in newborn, baby, and family portraiture and consider it an honor to play a part in capturing the timeless images of newborns, mothers, fathers, and pregnant women.

Over the past 26 years I have been a professional photographer, university educator of photography, but first and foremost a Mother. I am an expert in the portrait field but also the special challenges and worries a new mother faces. As a mother, I can assure you finding the time to capture a newborn's first innocence, a father's proud smile, and the wonder in a new Mom's eyes will "stand the test of time" with your photo session with Alternate Angles.

What makes me unique is an endless enthusiasm for newborns, children, and photography. I understand how Mothers feel about trusting a photographer with their newborn bundle of joy and, thus, am fully trained in the safety of newborn photography. And we don't even need to mention my appreciation for the challenges parents face when getting their little ones dressed, to a location, and in front of a camera with smiles on their faces. I have over 2  decades of professional photography experience and a healthy dose of mother's intuition to help tease out and showcase the best in each of your family members.

Alternate Angles suggests working together several times in the first year of your little one, as this year will hold the greatest amount of growth in your son or daughter's life. Most clients hire Alternate Angles for their newborn session, 6-month session, and one-year session, with some people also opting to add a 4-month session.

It's true. Time does fly by too quickly. I speak for myself when I say, my "Babies" are now 16 and 19 and I am both trying to pack in as many family moments and capture as many images as possible of them before they (gulp) fly from the coop. More About Award-Winning Photographer Laura Pineda

My career has spanned 26 years with industry awards and recognitions that include the Prestigious Kodak Gallery Award, Fuji Masterpiece Award, and multiple awards from the Professional Photographers of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

My work has appeared on the covers and inside a number of national periodicals including Town and Country, Rangefinder Magazine, Studio Photography, and PDN, amongst others.

For over a decade I was a photography teacher and eventually the Head of the Portraiture and Wedding Departments at the prestigious New England School of Photography. I have worked as a studio manager and photographer at a number of different companies and I'm a graduate of New England School of photography and Antioch College, where I earned high honors in portraiture along with a B.A. degree in photography.

While my photography career has always focused on capturing the spirit of people, in 2017 my focus narrowed to working exclusively with newborns, babies, and families. I consider it an honor to capture memories that families will treasure for generations. I look forward to working together with you and will be greeting you at the door with a smile.
