Newborn Baby G: Newborn images during COVID/Alternate Angles/Boston Newborn Photography

This beautiful babe was born and came to Alternate Angles during the height of COVID. Parents reach out to Alternate Angles for the opportunity to capture memories of this very short time in a newborn's life: when the skin is beautifully wrinkled, is deckled with flaking skin, is covered in wrinkles, and has that incredible peach fuzz. There is just absolutely nothing else like the newborn stage in life and it does NOT last long so capturing images in the first 7 to 10 days of life is essential! In standard times, it is not easy for many new parents to emotionally handle passing their brand new baby to a stranger.  

As a Mother, I am very sensitive to this potential challenge which is why I always walk through, step-by-step, what parents can expect during their session. I do this prior to the session via email and then again in person at the beginning of the session, to allow a discussion to take place covering any concerns or questions parents may have. Now, in the time of Corona Virus, the understandable existence of unsettling for parents is at its height. What I am doing as precautions for newborn sessions in the time of COVID is currently the number one question I am receiving from inquiring parents-to-be. Most importantly, I want every parent to be comfortable during the session so I am all ears to what will allow that to take place for parents.

Comfort levels vary from household to household and I am conscientious and respectful of this. I am masked at all times and I also wear cotton gloves as I handle newborns. There is a significant about of moving and adjusting that takes place during a newborn session to make the images just right so I feel it is smart to take the precaution of gloves. All items that are used during the session are of course thoroughly cleaned after each session, using either Clorox or a washing machine. You just cannot be too careful in these times and at this age! Again, most importantly to me as a mother, business owner, and human is the safety of each newborn and making sure that each parent is comfortable with absolutely every aspect during the session. Capturing newborn imagery during these unprecedented times is still very much possible so don't overlook the opportunity.
